This 6-Year-Old Is Helping The Homeless In Her Own Town After Getting Inspired By A Favorite Book

The 6-year-old is helping the homeless in her hometown St. Louis by providing them with care packages filled with food, drinks, and other essential items, FOX 2 Now reports.

Paris says she got the idea from one of her favorite books, “One Boy’s Magic” by Cari Chadwick Deal.

“She was reading books at school about giving and she came home one day, and she was like, ‘I want to give back to the homeless. What can we do to help the homeless?’” Paris’ mother Alicia Marshall told FOX. “We kind of brainstormed some ideas and we came up making care packages.”

Paris and her parents have so far distributed 500 of the “Paris Care Packages,” but this is not the girl’s first foray into philanthropy. Paris has also donated at least 250 meals to essential workers in St. Louis, and has plans to hold a food drive for the homeless around Thanksgiving and a fundraiser to purchase toys for families around Christmas.

Paris may be in first grade, but her ideas are improving her community and making St. Louis a more warm and welcome place to live.

“It makes me really proud because with everything that’s going on in the world this small child who is entering first grade has such a big heart. She wants to give. She wants to help others,” Marshall said.

With the help of her parents, Paris is turning her idea into a full-fledged non-profit. The Paris Cares Foundation will soon become a force for good in St. Louis, and perhaps someday soon the rest of the world. There’s no telling how far Paris will take this initiative.
